What is Certificate of Merit
Encourages and promotes consistent
and conscientious effort on the part of the student, rewards meritorious
achievement with certificates and special recognition. Students are
evaluated by state examinations; outstanding young musicians are afforded
the opportunity to appear on State Convention programs. After state
adjudication, it offers opportunities for recognition and performance
through Branch Honors Festival, Junior Recital and Senior Recital with
awards night and banquet. A syllabus can be ordered from the State Office
or website. Certificate of Merit registration fees are non-refundable.

beginning September 15, 2011. Elaine Archer * The 2007 Certificate of Merit Piano Syllabus must be used for evaluations. * The current Certificate of Merit Syllabi for Voice, Woodwinds and Strings must also be used for evaluations. All materials can be ordered through the State Office. Reminder: If an MTAC member registers students of non-MTAC members in the CM program, ALL STUDENTS of that teacher will be disqualified from CM for the current year with no fees refunded. Addition to CM Policy #3: If a student
transfers to another MTAC teacher after the registration deadline (November
15), the student will not be permitted to participate in CM unless the
previous teacher grants permission. |
